Thinking about what we were doing a year ago, interrupted by the most sirens I’ve ever heard in Berkeley. A mix of emotions.

But not really. There is a lot of stuff to unpack.
We ended up moving two households, and five people, in a single day. It was an adventure. I drove the biggest truck I have ever, uh, driven, and I am pretty sure I would need an upgrade to my license if I were to drive anything larger. It was crazy.
Our place is shaping up nicely, despite not having any color coordination at all. With five people we still have plenty of room in the main space, and that is nice.
Our internets isn’t going to be hooked up until Friday, so we are getting by on borrowed internets in the meantime. Currently I am at the Westside Bakery Cafe.
After I catch up on e-mail and such I am going to go buy some food stuffs to take home, and then attempt to unpack. More likely I will take a nap. That sounds really nice.
We received a call back from an apartment we really wanted. We are going up tomorrow to sign the lease. I had suspected, but was not entirely sure of, the stress this was causing me. I feel a great weight off of my shoulders, but I will be able to breath deeply once we all sign the lease.
The really interesting part is that I wasn’t going to fill out an application. I don’t have established credit, and some people have told me that is considered a bad thing. Either way, I didn’t want to “hide” the fact that I was going to be living there. So, the first application that I fill out, and it turns out I am the only person he checks. The landlord—is it just me, or does that sound like indentured servitude or something—called to ask me questions about where I had lived and stuff.
Well, everything is going well on that end, so soon (sometime after the 15th) we will be packing up and moving into the Bay Area. Location and house warming party details to come. ^_^
