Archives For Kickstarter

The HUB Oakland Kickstarter just reached 50%, with 18 days to go! I pledged, because I want to see this awesome space open in Oakland, and be part of the change that is happening. I’ve been searching for a space that is both interesting and filled with cognitive diversity. HUB Oakland matches that!

And the cool thing about the Kickstarter, and this particular HUB, is that it will be very inclusive, and will be given out scholarships. When I think of the lucky breaks I’ve gotten, and how cool it would have been to work in such a space, I can’t help but think it will really help some folks.

For my part, I am putting myself in fortune’s way. I can’t wait to see what emerges!

Also, I don’t think that FOSS game creators should emulate the practices that produce so-called AAA titles. I love crowd-funding! It makes me really happy! I wish # had a page on # the way # does! Finding FOSS projects on there is really hard, given their current search functions.

I concur. I also see patronage as a form of producing, i.e. Kickstarter, et al. That is part of the reason I am so interested in alternative payments sytems/currencies. It would be cool to use bitcoin/Dwolla/Square/flattr/*random community micro-currency* to pay for/support an artist on their easy to install, self-hosted Bandcamp/Kickstarter/Humble Bundle site. Sorry for that long thought, but I haven’t had an opportunity to express it all at once! That is what I want!
